Due to the nature of cancer, it turns out that we are going to go into phase 2 of updates.

The initial work on her throat is past, with a declaration that the area is clear of cancer.  It was taken with a certain measure of acceptance that the some of the nodes in her lungs were cancerous.

When Libby went in for a PET scan to determine the effectiveness of the Radio Frequency Ablation, a spot was found in her 8 thoracic vertebrae (T-8).  We are now in Phase 3.

More spots have come up in the lungs.  Whack a mole has not slowed the progress there, so Libby's doctor has decided to take the chemotherapy regimen being used in a clinical trial to see if it will at least stop the growth of the new ones.  This is now Phase 4.

The spots in the lungs seemed to be stopped by the chemo.  As an added measure a full body PET scan was run right before Thanksgiving (2008).  A 25mm spot was found just below her jaw and several new sub-centimeter spots were found in her lungs.  Phase 5 here we come!
